Well, the bottom line is I wanted either a 156 2.0 TS or 2.5 V6, or a decent 166, I know they are totally different cars, but I donít like small cars and I need four doors, and having just taken the 166 2.0 TS for a test drive, I think I might even consider going for the 3.0 V6 166 model, though I guess that would be really heavy on juice right? (Does anyone know how many miles it will do off a full tank, and what a full tank costs?)
Anyways, if anyone is interested, after about 10 minutes driving in the 2.0, which I know isnít nearly enough to say anything, it didnít feel all that bad, it was very clean and the engine sounded fine and had no leaks or anything on it, it had a bit of stone chip on the paint, but nothing to speak of, and the interior was splendid, everything electrical worked, it was like a new car (except the stone chip) however, it just felt, well, like the engine was a little little bit too small for the car, it wasnít a slug, but it did feel a tad underpowered to me, but then, what do I know after 10 minutes driving!!!
Anyways, more to the point, I checked out your red 166 Rapallo, thatís a nice car, the way it looks with the 17inch wheels is definitely more the sort of 166 I would like, and I donít think it will be underpowered at all, with that in mind Iíve found a nice example of the 166 3.0 V6 on a 1999/T with said wheels and engine, itís sort of burgundy coloured and I think I will test drive that too, though itís on for £6500, but what the heck, I am guessing it will both sound and pull like a horse!
So, those were my observations on the 166 2.0 TS, the engine felt and sounded fine, even after 116,000 miles, it was a 1 owner from new fleet car, fully serviced, no slug, but felt underpowered.
I can understand what youíre saying about the Cloverleaf Aisha, but Rapallo must know, the 3.0 V6 is a beast, I can tell itís a beast from here, and Iím in yorkshire. The smaller Alfa you said, the cloverleaf looks nice and sporty, however it has only 2 doors so i have to rule it out, the 146 I just donít like the look of.
Anyway, I will shut up, hopefully will test drive a 3.0 V6 at the weekend and will let you know how I get on if youíre interested?
Thanks for replying me, you are all very helpful.
