0-60's are great and all, and make up a good stat when 'discussing' cars, but out in the real world you'll rarely ever get to use a 0-60 quick time to your advantage unless you play 'Green Light Grand Prix's like I used to do,
If you are after something which is quick and quite economic (I say quite because you can't have both SPEED and GREAT economy really) then I say go with a 156 Twinny, either the 1.8 or 2.0, both pretty quick once you get to about 40MPH or so.
Personally, I don't give a rats about MPG, the price of fuel's gone down now anyway back to near enough what it used to be, although no one seems to mention this, only when it goes up,
I've had two 156 V6's and they are BLOODY quick motors, with about 7 second 0-60's and top speeds of 140MPH+, their mid range speed is what gets me grinning though, the speed from about 60MPH - 120MPH+ is intense and superbly delivered.
Have you thought much about a Turbo'd motor at all? Say a Fiat Coupe? I had one for a short span and swapped it with a bloke on here who's thinking of selling. His now clocks sub 6 second 60's and will do about 160MPH I should have thought. He's upped power from 220BHP which is ALOT, to 260BHP which is MORE than alot,
Returns about 30MPG as well, brilliant cars the Fiat Coupe's.
