Hmmm 20 MPG on a 1.8 156 T-Spark???

So... fuel light on, I put £15 of fuel in this morning before my usual 25 mile drive to work, then 25 mile drive back.

£15 takes me just over the first \ on the fuel dial, on the way back home - fuel light comes on and indicator has dropped to just over the empty mark (yet i'm sure 10 mins before when I last looked I was nearer the first line still)...

So... dodgy fuel indicator? (I've seen it give some weird readings sometimes), how to fix?

Had MAF sensor problem which "seems" to have gone, although when cold seems to pop up now and then, guessing this would really affect my MPG.. but nothing like £15 in a day on a 50 mile round trip???? (ok so theres gonna be a 5er left in there probably - but still?!)

Use the gauge as a rough guide. To work out mpg properly you need to brim fill the tank, do 100 miles and brim it again and work the mpg out.
