I have a lhd 147 here in the UK and to get it registered i need to permanantly (no stickers/tape) adjust the front lights to rhd spec...just wondering if this can be done from behind the lamps ie. within the bonnet OR do i need to get new head lights?
are you sure about that?
the adjustments are there to move the "pointed light" left/right or up/down.
but headlights dont give out a straight line. on LHD cars, they are tipped to the right and on RHD cars theyre tipped to the left. http://www.headlightaimer.com/sniper/step3.gif
the diagonal line shown on the pic is the light tipping to the right. this is to help you view more on your right side, and the left is clear not to blind oncoming traffic. you cannot adjust this, this is obtained by the lens/reflector.
sorry for not saying this earlier...
if you adjust it from behind the cluster, you will be moving that diagonal line left/right, or up/down. you cannot shift that line to the left, obviously. i know all this because i went to see the MOT guy adjusting my dad's car's headlamps about a year ago on the headlight aimer machine thingy
