156 - knocking sound on full lock
Having had my once beloved (and exciting!) Toyota Carina written off, I've finally been able to go out and get myself a 156 having looked guiltily at them for a couple of years.
Looks like I might have a money sink (but I hope not)...
Amongst a couple of other things (phase variator, thermostat), I've got a knocking sound coming from the drivers' side front wheel. This only happens on full right lock and moving forwards (oddly reversing has no effect), and speed of the knocking's clearly related to how fast I'm travelling.
I'm guessing this sounds like the constant velocity joint in the wheel? That being the case does the sound indicate that the cv joint's in need of replacement or may it just be the boot?
Any ideas on costs I'm looking at to get the cv joint replaced? (she's booked in for the thermostat anyway, I just need to brace myself for prices).
