don't ask,(I should have got a Scoob!)...........I need a to find a breaker for cat pipes and a decent mechanic to fit them in the SE,as I'm not, repeat not, paying over a grand to have 2 new ones fitted (first one blew and the back one was wrecked because of it-final analyse is due next week but am 98% certain)
Looks like I'm in with a chance of getting the cats on warranty, but they have to be fitted by the dealer.I want to ditch them Steve, but its finding someone who can be bothered to make downpipes and remap the ECU.Janos at Autodelta has said the car will defo need remapping if the cats are bypassed, which he is prepared to do,but only if he can fit the new cats himself, which he can't as the dealer has to to claim the warranty. We shall see!
G147,and update..........to bypass the cats you still need new cats,as you can't have shagged ones rattling away and if you bypass them by going through the core you need a new one to do it and you also need someone like Autodelta to mess with the ECU! And if i decide not to fit cats again i need someone who can be arsed to make the replacement pipes and develop the remap-which at this moment in time stands at a big fat zero although i'm currently crying on the phone to Janos on adaily basis.I think he will do something for me cus believe it or not,he has heard of several other blown cats so this could be spmething that could get posted more often in here.
I remember the Dukes very well,Roscoe P Coldtrain was a hero!
Anyway,it turns out that Alfa care sometimes turn up to check big warranty claims and this will be big if all 3 cats are blown, but i suspect its just the main cat.I would obvioulsy prefer to just have the cats removed, but as i say,its finding someone who will do the remap.Autodelta have tentativley said yes,as hess had to develop the remap as he's had problems from European buyers. So it looks like I will be forking out a wad either way,but at least if i take the buggers off i will have a tad noisier exhaust and 1 more hp!
