CD autochanger skipping on new 147

We have had our shiny new 147 for a couple of months now and it is gorgeous.

However, we have a problem with the CD autochanger. It skips. A lot. The Sony unit we had in the Golf skipped only rarely, and usually only on very rough roads. The Blaupunkt unit in the 147 skips about 5-8 times per song on each disc, regardless of the road conditions!

We have already had it back to the garage, who sent the changer unit away for fixing. It was refitted last week. At first, it seemed a lot better, but now it is back to skipping as much as before.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy fix, or do we make another trip back to the garage?

I don't know if it makes a difference to the model of CD changer fitted, but we have the Bose system installed.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi Futureshox,

I fitted the 10Stack Blaupunkt CD changer into my car myself (My 147 is fitted with BOSE).

I have had absolutely no problems at all. 2 things to check are:

1. Ensure that the CD Stacker body is bolted down/screwed in to the carpet for better stability.

2. On the side of the body of the stacker is a metal screw which the installer has to rotate according to the angle which the unit is mounted. This screw alignes the damping parts to be parallel to the vertical movemement of the suspension.

If you need more help or some pics of my unit mounted, just let me know.

Thanks Stef. I think they checked that already, though.

Hey ho, hey ho, it's back to the garage we go...

Still, at least we have the CD slot and at least it's not anything worse! (touches wood)
