shirley it shouldn't fiz out of the pas box???

Fellow 156 owners (or in fact any alfa owner)...
I drove thru a McD's driver thru (that didn't cause it), and when I pulled away I started to hear a noise from the drive train. it sounds like a bee stuck somewhere.
It started on revving only. Then when I moved on I could hear it while steering in either direction.
The day after I did a quick check to see if it had gone away miraclulously. It hadn't. Instead the steering juice fizzed out of the pas box.
What on earth could that be? I bet its expensive.

156. 2ltr. 1998. About 113k miles.

Any ideas?

By 'PAS box', do you mean the power-steering pump, or the steering rack?

I'd check the pipes for leaks, and that the unions are tight.

Failing that, I have either of the two parts above from a W-reg 156 for sale at the moment.

Edit: And don't call me 'Shirley'.

Re: shirley it shouldn't fiz out of the pas box???

Thanks Iain,
Not exactly sure where the noise is coming from - could be either the bottom end (presumably the rack) or the top (belts and stuff). I'm not sure I even want to start it again, last time I did, the steering fluid fizzed up thru the hole in the top of the reservoir.

However, I think I might try and take the belt covers off and see if there is anything to see.

If it looks like I need any of the parts I'll let you know Iain.
