147 EBD System Failure - Help please!!!!
My 52 plate 147 has run like a dream for about 12,000 miles. Had it serviced last Friday, plugs, suspension arm etc. All fine.
Then this morning I tried to start her up - NOTHING! just a click.
A neigbour helped with a jumpstart, got her running, moved about 20ft and then EBD system failure comes up and she dies again.
Another jump start, died before I could even close the bonnet.
The third jump I got her going, kept the revs up, let her idle for 10 mins, then drove 50 motorway miles, all fine. Until I parked up, nothing again!! Totally dead . . . !
So, my best guess is the battery is dead? But would a battery just die so completely overnight? Does this sound normal?
Also, the main dealer wants to put it on the diagnostic rig (££££) and try a new battery?
However, drawing on the experience of the forum . . . would I be better going to Halfrauds and just popping a new battery in myself?
Any thoughts, advice or assistance would be massively appreciated. I'm at work now, but at about 5pm I'm gonna have a massive problem on my hands - unless I get a battery at lunch.
