Someone pointed out I might have more responses to this in here than in 'General Discussions' where I originally posted it....
I currently run a 2.0 156 but have got the chance to upgrade (IMHO) to a 3.0 V6 166 at a good price. It's 2 years old and has done 55k miles (yikes). Should it be avoided like the plague or is this not a problem for these motors ? When are the expensive services etc. etc. ? Thanks.
12k services usually about £120 at main dealer (that's just oil and filter!) The biggie is at 72k when you will need a new timing belt (I am sure of this but may be wrong), this service will cost you the best part of £500 plus anything they find whilst doing the work.
As stated, the main service is at 72.000 miles, which is the replacement of the timing and counter balance belts at a timed service of 6.75hrs. The only other high time service is at 60,000 which is the replacement of the 6 spark plugs at 2.95hrs. These are the main dealer times and are always over the top.
