Re: Best spark plugs - Alfa or NGK?
I wouldn't use Champion. There quality control is very lacking. Even the Denso or Bosch Irisium plugs will not perform as well as the Platinum.
The Platinum tip lasts longer, but it is also much smaller so the spark kernal is stable and consistent throught the plug's life. In the old days, a new set of spark plugs used to make more power for the first 10 minutes or so until the finished wore off the plugs. That doesn't happen with platinum, so they make a little more power for most of their life. Fitting a Platinum alternative is the best upgrade option for an older car, and not Splitfire etc. Iridium is better than standard, but not as good as platinum and still loose a few BHP early on in their life. I got that info from an ex NGK engineer and it has been supported by a couple of tuners.
