156 Side light replacement

Just noticed one of my side lights has gone, can I just replace the bulb or do I need to get a new array? Either way it looks tricky to get at.....any tips? cheers Izzy.

Re: 156 Side light replacement

Hi - If its the same as the 147 then you buy the cluster complete.

Not that expensive and just unclips. Recommend you use a fine flat head screwdriver, taking care not to scratch the paintwork

Re: 156 Side light replacement

The 147 is a singular replacement item, guess the 156 is similar? Both are a little tricky to access, but a few have backposted a wrinkle or two, on how to achieve this, if you do a search?:

Re: 156 Side light replacement

156 uses an H6W bulb ... that's not the normal sidelight bulb, but a halogen version with offset pins. Expect to pay around £5-6 for one!!

And they are really fun to change ... and I am being sarcastic!

Re: 156 Side light replacement

Open the back of the headlight cluster.. theres a little circular cover
If you have small hands you can reach in and feel the bulb housing ..
at the top of the housing is a long plastic tag.. turn it til its horizontal and then you should be able to pull the bulb housing out of the fitting and out of the cluster
Pull and twist the bul and its out ..
In the best traditions of Haynes .. Refitting is the reverse

Re: 156 Side light replacement

Do you mean sidelights or side repeaters? Did my sidelight last night, piece of cake once i'd worked out how to get at it.
