Noise on startup, everytime!!!
This is my first tech post and 1st forum I have ever used so please be kind.
My 156 TS, 1.8 ,400000 miles, makes a kind of higher pitched noise on start up. It starts about a minute after the engine is turned on and is more prominent when I start driving, hot or cold. I can drive through it and it disappears eventually after about 30 seconds, but not before becoming quite loud. It is a kind of higher pitched rattle/fan belt slipping noise (but its not the fan belt, its quite difficult to describe). I know that the alternator belt is slightly frayed and is going to be replaced soon and the heat shield is cracked and again is due for replacement. Other than that it has just had a health check and is fine, typically enough they could not hear the noise but I presume they had it up on a lift. The noise seems to come from the front (right possibly) of the car.
Love my Alfa and hope she does not have an incurable disease.
