Australian specification 147, 156 and 166 models do not have alarms, none beep although 147's and late model 156's do flash their indicators when operating the remote central locking.
They do however have a sophisticated Bosch Code 2 immobiliser which is integrated with the engine management system. The system uses a rolling code system verified between immobiliser and Motronic ECU activated by transponders in the ignition keys.
There is no factory fitted Alarm offered in Australia for the 156 or 147, there are dealer fitted Alarms available though, in the case of the 156 there are various brands of 'upgrade' alarm which can be interfaced with and activated by the factory remote control.
In the case of the 147 there is a dealer fit genuine 'Meta' Alarm kit which has recently been made available in Australia. This is a comprehensive system including ultrasonic sensors and can be retrofitted to any 147.
It is preferable to use the correct alarm for 147 as it interfaces with the vehicle multiplex system and body control computer as per the original.

Works off standard Alfa Ignition key remote and there are no beeps on activation or deactivation
