Bose sound system not working properly???
Just picked up my Alfa 147 yesterday. Everything is perfect, except for the Bose Sound System. I know bugger all about sound system technicalities, so I'll just describe the symptons (there's two of them).
1. When I turn on the stereo, there is very audible high pitched hissing sound. As I turn up the volume, this sound gets louder. When I accelerate, the sound gets louder. The only time I cannot hear it is when I'm playing the volume at 55+.
2. The volume is not that loud at all. At a volume of 20, the music is very very quiet (you can only hear it if the car is not moving). Below 15, you can hear nothing. At the maximum volume of 66, the sound is loud and quality is perfect, but it really isn't that loud (I can talk to a friend in the front seat at normal speech volume and we can hear eachother without any problem). Now, I'm not hoping for window-shaking volume levels, but I must admit that the max volume seems rather tame. The cheapo stereo in my old Golf used to be louder at 2/3 of its max.
So, my simple question is: Does this sound familiar? If this isn't normal, has anyone else had this problem? Is it easily repaired?
