I know its the age old question of which oil to use, but here goes.
I have a friend that works at a Vauxhall dealer who agreed to help service my car at his work, I bought all the service kit including oil, air, fuel, cabin filters with him saying he would get the oil from his work as it would be cheaper.
He took one look at the engine and said it was exactly the same as the Vauxhall 1.9 CDTI engine. ( I had heard this before) we serviced the car no problem and set about filling with oil. It wasn't until we had filled it and started the engine that I realized that he had used 5W30 engine oil!!!!
I raised my concerns that it should be 5W40, he informed me that this is what Vauxhall recommend and even assured me that their warranty department endorse it!
As both engines are the same should it really matter? or should I be making a b line to Halfords in the morning?
I want a Alfa Gt and I want one now!!
