Wheres that tumbleweed smilie?
Ok, so in the interest of anyone else searching and coming up with no difinitive answers, I thought i'd chip in with what i've done.
******FUEL IS DANGEROUS BOYS AND GIRLS SO TAKE EXTRA CARE AND HAVE YOUR HEAD SCREWED ON WHEN DOING THIS!!!*******
Car was feeling a little flat. Not quite the 120bhp ticket. so after much searching and playing, i took the fuel rail off (4xinjector plugs,1xvariator solenoid plug,2xM6 torxy type bolts) and removed each injector in turn (little metal clip and tight O ring) laid it on some carboard to see what came out and cleaned with wynns carb and intake cleaner.
2 injectors had clag in them. About 3-4 1mm square sized bits that were in the basket on the top of the injector.
Cleaned that out. One had a clearly visible dark mark around the outlet (it has 4 very small holes in the cap) which looked like varnish (anyone who's stripped a year old carb that wasnt emptied will know what i mean!) so that was cleaned too.
Now i should have replaced the o rings as a matter of course but they hadnt turned up yet, so i oiled the old ones and put them back in.
Took a few cranks to get it to start due to lack of fuel in the line but this morning on the way to work it felt like i had my ponies back. Very happy.
I'm taking no responsibility for anyone blowing themselves/bystanders/cats/cars up.
