Re: Head Gasket
Like the guys say, it doesn't sound like a head gasket problem if oil consumption's the only symptom.
If you DO need a new head gasket a main dealer "charged" the warranty company £454.26 for the labour on mine last year. (I think VAT might be extra). But parts came to several hundred. You must replace the cam belts and other belts - no way should belts be taken off then put back on. (That was included in the labour). Also the head bolts should be replaced, and various other gaskets. Mine had overheated and needed new oil, plugs etc. Total was about £1400 all in (but yours would be less).
Bored yet? And THEN the gasket went again - because they hadn't skimmed or crack tested the head. New bill £1100 from a specialist, inc VAT, to have the whole lot done again, this time including skimming, and also including new variators and water pump because while it's all in bits, you might as well.
