2.0 JTS cambelt slip?
Hello. I hope Im in the right place, im kinda new to this forum wotsit. Im hoping someone will give me some advice on a problem Ive got with me 156. I broke down on Sunday in Bath and had to be rac'd back to Portsmouth which was a drag. Wasnt so much the braking down which worried me as the symptoms of the fault. I was at a traffic light, pulling away with a 'granny start' and then suddenly there was a hick-up from the engine, then no power. (I wasnt ragging it) I clutched in straight away and pulled in. I left the engine for a bit then restarted it. Seemed to have a noisy and tiny bit of a variable idle, but on slightly revving it became symptomatic of a misfire. RAC came out and plugged their lappy in, it said random misfire on No. 4 cylinder, and post cat lambda fault. During the diagnostic the lower part of the exhaust manifold was cherry red too. Dont know if thats unusual, havent noticed it before. Smelt a fair bit of petrol generally around the car aswell.
So, I went out today to Meridien Milano and got a new coil pack, fitted it, and still the same problem, even after substituting new for old on all the coil packs. Is it possible that a slipped cambelt could produce symtoms like these? I'm going to examine the timing positions tomorrow. If it has slipped what would have caused this? I only changed it 5000 ago and it was tentioned perfectly.
Thanks in advance.
