Re: DIY alloy refurb OR new alloys
when i did mine i bought a 2nd hand set of alloys with good tyres and chucked them on the car, then took mine off and preped and painted them and popped them back on.
Once done I just put the alloys I had bought straight back up for sale and got my money back.
The only issue I have with dark coloured wheels is that they clash with the colour of the tyres, I like dark wheels so long as there is a colour in between, so for example you could leave the outside edge of the rim silver, or carry the colour of your car through to the outside of the rim with a pin stripe.
Character is what you have left when you've lost everything you can lose.
