Have a 4 month old 156. Only 2,700 miles on the clock. The dealer says I should bring it in for its first service at 12,000 miles.
Personally I would like to do it before then. 7k or 9k maybe. Any advice ? What does the first service entail ? Should I top the oil up myself before then ? Or wait for the oil change from the dealer ?
Whats your annual mileage?The Spider doesn`t do many so first service was done after 12 months,but only 8000miles on the clock.I favour changing oil as regularly as you can afford.After all its relatively cheap,especially if you do it yourself.
These are the beliefs of a Grease monkey (me );
If one does a lot of urban driving, or the car idles alot, then an oil change every 6 months, or every 10.000 km is appropriate. Or if U put the car to the limit and/or use Selenia 10w60 for sporty drivin', this multigrade oil will degrade quicker than a more ordinary oil, Selenia 20K for instance.
But at least, change the oil every 12 months, or 20K kilometers.
As the car is fairly new, change the oil and filter now, some people believe this to be old school stuff, but better change the oil when the engine is bedded in. My 2p's worth.
