I am afraid I have had very little spare time lately and when I have had time I have been enjoying the driving and have not measured the 0-100km time. I still need to do the Ecotek comparison tests but I could not tell you if the induction kit helped the time categorically as I did not measure it before fitting it (too keen to get it fitted during a break in the rain we have been having).
All I can say is that there definitely feels like there is more power there, especially at lower revs and the engine is singing (what a lovely sound, now)at 6000 rpm, a lot sooner than it was at first. This could be due to the engine loosening up (it has only done 2.5k miles)or the induction kit, but it is more likely to be a combination of both factors.
As for the air intake, you are quite correct. The intake is not needed as the induction kit has a cone filter and the air box is discarded. It takes air from all around itself, not just from the direction of the air intake pipe.
