The 2.4 JTD has a much wider rev range than other TD's I've driven in the past. The power starts to tail of at about 4,900 rpm and is over by about 5,300 BUT of course you do have real power from about 1,800 rpm when you hit the torqure curve, rather than the 3,000 + rpm of a petrol. Used to have an older 306 TD which only had a power band between 2000 and 4000 rpm - great when it was on boost but a nightmare when it wasn't!
Don't know if you can really compare a 206 non TD to Alfa's finest. A bit like comparing a standard 1.4 to a 1.6 T. Spark?
