I don't want to bore the forum about something which Im sure has been talked about (rear fog light error)...I got the error once 2-3 months ago and made nothing of it.....I just checked my rear fog lights (for the first time tonight )...and one of them doesnt work!!!......the error message has never come on since that one time!!...WHAT IS GOING ON FOLKS?..What a hassle to have to tqake it in for something like this!!
#1 most common 147 complaint: "one of my reversing lights doesn't work" closely followed by "one of my rear foglights doesn't work"
If you look closely you will notice that one has a red tint- (the foglight) and the other side is clear (the reversing light) The foglight is obviously working ok at the moment so it is probably just a dirty connection on the foglight bulb holder.
You can pull the whole unit out and clean the terminals without removing the tailgate trim though- I think it uses 8mm nuts- you might have even temporarily fixed it by shutting the hatch.
Don't worry- the single rear lights fool more than 156 rear doorhandles!
Quick question, how do you activate the 147's parking lights? - The only feature that I know of is the "follow me home" but after shutting down the engine and exiting the car, I can't leave any of the lights on... PLease help.
Something I know at last!!! To activate the parking lights, when you turn the ignition off there is a little plastic bit sticking out from the ignition that you push in to activate the parking lights. crap description I know but if you have a fiddle the next time you get in the car you will find it, its not very obvious at all!
You can then take the key out, lock the car etc and the parking light will stay on.
Sorry for the late reply guys, but you must keep the time difference in mind.
TallPaul's explanation is great. The only thing I didn't read in it was, that you have to push the little button on the ignition barrel in, and turn the key one more notch "AWAY from the start position". This I believe is like a deadlock position. At this point, both front park lights and rear lights turn on.
To turn on either the left side lights or right side lights on, you just have to flick your indicator "left" or "right".
This will detrmine which side of the car lights up.
Really cool feature and useful in some circumstances.

OK BEAR WITH ME PEOPLE!!!.......I have done the "little black button on the ignition" thing and the 2 rear OUTER red lights come on and stay on....this aside..........when I press the "rear fog light" button on the console only the LEFT rear INNER red light comes on.......the RIGHT rear INNER light is CLEAR PLASTIC (not red)...is this a fog light? and is it supposed to come on?....if not...what the hell is this light? Is it the REVERSING light? WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE FOG LIGHT? I DONT GET IT!!!
It is a normal set-up.
1 Fog light on the drivers side, to indicate the side of the car furthest from the kerb and 1 reversing light on the passenger side.
The 2 rear lights when you press the button are the rear parking/side lights.
Moving the indicator stalk up or down when you press the button and remove the key will turn one of the back parking lights off. This is so you can just have 1 light on (back & front) to indicate the offside (furthest away from the kerb)of the car, dependng on which way you were facing when you parked.
I hope that is a clear enough explanation.
Sorry guys, but I still can't get these parkinglights to work.... this black button you keep refering to on the ignition, either you need to have extremely thin fingers in order to push and turn the key at the same time or the key I have for the 147 is too big to allow anything bigger that a pen to fit in between the key and the button on the ignition....
