Re: Replacing 2.0TS with 1.9JTD in 147 selespeed
Electronics will be your downfall here. Getting the Selespeed ECU to work with a diesel engine..
Not forgetting that the JTD engine does not mate to the TwinSpark gearbox, and then even if you did get it to mate, would the TwinSpark gearbox be able to handle the torque? And even if it could, your ratios would be totally incorrect for the diesel engines low rev limit.
Then you're gonna have to change the springs and shocks at the front as the JTDm is a much heavier engine.. High pressure fuel pump install for the common rail system will be mega-expensive too. Oh and you'll have to do a fair bit of welding, to get all the mounting points for the JTD engine in the right place.
Have you ever done an engine swap with this level of complexity before? A 2.0 TS can be replaced with a 1.6 or 1.8 TS relatively easily, just as a 3.0 was dropped in place in my car to replace the 2.5. . But TS -> JTD would be very difficult. May as well just break the car for spares and buy a JTD, or fix it and sell it, and buy a JTD, if that is what you want.
But if you do decide to go ahead with it, best of luck to you.
