147 2.0TS - Porus engine block!
This is my first post here, the first time is always when you need something... I'm looking for some advice.
I collected my 147 2.0TS at the start of the year. I've had a few little 'niggles'; rattley doors, squeaky dash/windscreen, various internal trim faults (scratches & marks from new), external trim faults (wheel arch & side indicators). Overall I've been more than tolerant - I just send it back to the dealer to be fixed. A couple of the things are still outstanding, but there's other forum topics covering most of them.
Anyway, this post covers the most recent 'little' problem. About two months ago, I noticed an oil leak under the engine, so off it went to the dealer, who prescribed a set of new head gaskets. It's only done 5500 miles, so I was a bit surprised, and concerned (that the mechanics wouldn't put it back together as well as the robots did...). Anyway, it came back today, they haven't replaced the gaskets - apparantly, the gaskets aren't to blame, I'm told the engine block is 'porus'.
I don't know what that means exactly (other than it leasks oil!), but the dealer advises me it needs a new engine. Now all of this work is obviously under warranty, but none the less, I'm a bit concerned (after only 5 months and 5500 miles).
I wondered if any other members have had similar experiences (I hope not!), or have heard of similar occurances. Also, just looking for some advice of how you think I should progress this with the dealer and/or Alfa.
Thanks for reading, regards,
