Right...a bit more info.
I took the lambda sensor off the 156 that I'm breaking, and connected it to mine with the body of it connected to ground. No difference.
Changed a coil pack and an HT lead, which were a bit suss. No difference.
I think the next plan will be to change the plugs, which look a bit tired (cleaning them didn't help), maybe try the spare MAF that I have, and if none of that works I'll unscrew the lambda sensor from the exhaust and see if that makes any odds.
Any other suggestions???
Edit: Not sure if this is relevant, but there's a high-pitched whistle coming from somewhere when the throttle's pressed. Could it be air getting in somewhere that's skewing the MAF sensor / mixture?
