156 rushing/whistling sound
Had my 156 1.9 JTD remapped last week. Upturn in performance is marked, it's a great drive. Although that said I have not thrashed it senseless and haven't been much over 3500rpm.
Driving it today I noticed an unusual noise. From inside it sounds like the air blower might sound. In fact it sounds exactly like a bag of sugar sounds as you pour it into a tin. And it only happens when the revs pass a certain point, usually a little over 2000rpm (when the turbo kicks in??). Trying out the engine with the bonnet open the sound appears to be coming from the front and bottom of the engine.
* what do you think this is - I am not mechanical, is it the turbo itself, and if so is it likely to be terminal, or is it some sort of exhaust blow or what?
* has the remap made this happen?
* the car is warrantied, have I screwed my chances of warranty repair with the remap?
* I drove it home slowly so as not to make the noise happen, how safe is it to continue to drive a) if I keep it slow enought to not make the noise and b) driving normally?
I'd appreciate your input so as I can get an idea about how to handle the calls I need to make to the remapper and the Alfa people.
