Help Excessive Gearstick Movement

Hey, I am new to the AO and own a 147 2.0 TS it has excessive play in the gearlever! I work in the motor industry and am aware of the problems you can get from the gearstick bush so I ordered and received a new gearlever after spending a couple of hours under the car yesterday i found out when I had put it all back up in place that I only get 1st and 2nd! it is as though i've been supplied a Selespeed stick instead of the Manual one? Any one have any clues?

Re: Excessive Gearstick Movement

did you check the gear selector plate? this is normally what causes gearstick play and the bushes in the gearstick houssing can wear.

Did the gearstick self centre correctly from the 1st and 2nd side?
