with all due respect guys, Autocar was testing hot hatches. Its mistake was to include a 147 which isn't really a hot hatch at all; that doesn't mean what it said about the 147 was wrong (in fact they did praise it), nor does it make them ******s. For sure, they are wallys for including it, but not ******s or wrong in their judgement on hot hatches IMHO.
Hot hatches are about outright speed etc, which is why something as vile as the Ashtray Turbo did so well; but when it comes to class, elegance, looks, finesse and sophistication (which are not hot hatch criteria), the 147 has all the others licked.
BTW - if you think you're hard done by, you should see the raging debate on the Clio site that the MINI got one point more than the 172, even though they said its space was better etc, they awarded the MINI the winner. If I could care one iota for Autocar's verdict, I'd be furious. BUNCH OF ******S!! THEY KNOW NOTHING. 172 IS THE DADDY etc etc etc....
