Cold engine and both cooling fans on immediately
Morning all. It has been a while since I've posted but then it has been a while since I've owned an Alfa.
I have a 156 v6 and over the past couple of days both cooling fans come on as soon as I switch on the ignition to start the engine from cold. From there the fan speed seems to fluctuate and the fans will sometimes cut in and out in a random fashion but for the most part they stay on. This means the engine is slower to warm up but as soon as it starts to get past 50 degrees on the temp gauge the fans will eventually cut out and then behave as I would expect, ie, cutting in just before the 90 degree mark on the temp gauge.
Any ideas? I have searched the whole tech forum and the closest I found talked about a wiring 'fix' that bypasses a sensor. I will look again but on my car I cannot see any evidence of wiring mods.
Edited to add that in the past month, before I bought the car, it has had a new MAF fitted if that could have any influence on the issue. This was fitted to cure a flat spot issue.
