Plastic knobs!

No, it's not what you think...

I want to replace that horrible plastic gearknob on the 156 V6 (hollow because of the lift mechanism for reverse). Anyone done this?


p.s Any further tips on the V6 engine maintenance would also be welcome.

Dont know about the 156 but the one on the Spider required a hacksaw for removal!Be brave! [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Hi Pete,

Always a bit wary of stuff like using hacksaws! My new car (99 silver 156 V6 30K) doesn't (touch fake wood) have anything wrong with it. Not a rattle! Due to this forum the salesman thought I was a maniac. I knew absolutely everything to check when buying!

In the end the buying guide for the Spider was not needed. If however I return to the UK I will buy one for sure. For what I paid for the V6 here I could have a very tidy UK Spider indeed. Prices are crackers here!
