156 - what would you do?
ok - so we all expect a few little things to go wrong with our Alfas, but the drive far outweighs the problems....
My 156 sprotivo has done 3,900 miles from new, and has yet to be thrashed (differing opinions on when it's safe to do so, so I'm going to play it safe till about 8000 miles...).
So far, I've had the following problems:
150 miles: wipers activating at random and cannot be switched off - faulty relay replaced
190 miles: oil leak from engine compartment - manifold gasket replaced
various paintwork flaws + very slight indentation on left side and boot lid (luckily all identified on picking up car)
boot lid does not fit correctly
bonnet not fitted correctly
passenger side carpet trim loose at point of attachment to centre console
rear left-side window: rubber trim loose at centre pillar and/or not fitted correctly
front left-side window: rubber trim loose at top - pushed back into place but still loose
rear-left pillar has come loose.
driver side door handle button frequently sticks
driver side seatbelt locks occasionally - usually when parked on a hill
handbrake does not lock correctly when lifted
stereo does not function correctly
pressing button to open boot does not deactivate alarm
rattle from sunroof
rattle from centre air vent
leak and bad fabric staining on pass-side A-pillar
rattle from driver door - something loose inside
new paintwork damage introduced last time the car was in for repair work
brakes squealing occasionally
now they tell me that the car has to go back to Alfa's main distribution point in Dublin to fix the leak - they reckon it's a sunroof problem
So, so should I just put up and shut up, or get serious with lemon-law stuff?
disappointed alfa-owner, but still forgive it every time I get in the drivers seat ;-) ...
