156 Cutting Out

Anyone any ideas what maybe causing my 98 156 TS 2.0 to cut out intermittently when stopping at a junction?

Of course the fault would have to be intermittent so doesn't show up whenever I go looking for it.
It's getting kinda dangerous as sooner or later someone is going to go into the back of me.

Also, ever since I had all of the disks replaced last year she is squealing like mad every time I touch the brake. Anything obvious?
I wondered about anti squeal shims but not sure if they are fitted?

Re: 156 Cutting Out

To stop the squeal you'll need to strip the brakes and copper grease up the pads and carriers.

The cutting out is either going to be cured by doing an ECU reset, cleaning the throttle body or replacing the TPS/IAC on the side of the throttle body.

To reset: disconnect the battery for 15 mins, reconnect and turn the ignition to MAR for 90 secs, then to OFF for 90 secs, now start the car without touching the throttle, allow to idle for 5 minutes and then go for a drive starting off easy for 5 minutes and then pushing harder for 5, this will relearn all the sensor data and charectaristics of the engine within the ECU and should dtop the cutting out.
