Mitch I went a bit over the top there, sorry, bad day, things were escalating.
I agree, it's difficult to hear someones tone on a piece of text, its that I read yours as being a bit put downish.
I see you were trying to get more details out of the situation, I was just seeing it how I would've reacted to a garage forgetting something so important, the main part of that service, maybe they did, different reasons I guess, luckily, they came good and now Wonster has a brand new engine so can't be bad!
I do appreciate all advice given on here too, I am new to Alfa as of last Oct.
My engine was making a funny noise a couple of months ago, an Alfa Dealer spotted it as part of a free 'Health Check'.
Fortunately my friend has done cambelt changes before and so we had a look as my belt had been done within guidelines according to the service history so it should be ok.
It turned out the belts were good but a tensioner was loose.
Not easy to get to but we sorted it in the end.
I haven't had a Cambelt go (touch wood!) so sorry to hear about people who have.
When the time comes for me to have a cambelt change I am tempted to turn up halfway through and see if they are doing the work with my own eyes!
Wonster, glad you got a new engine, cant be bad eh?
Out of interest, if it is indeed a brand new engine, is the speedometer reset to 0?
I'd ask the question, that means the warranty should also be reset maybe? A question for HQ - and seeing as you were carless for that amount of time, the stress incurred for actually having to prove it - not like Allams said, oh sorry we forgot about that etc. they had to be threatened as you say from another dealer.
Worth a try, worth putting a letter together for Alfa HQ, no skin off their nose seeing a customer is satisfied with their car and not disgruntled. I think that would be quite fair.
Looks like Allams came good in the end, but I'll bet it's only because they had no way out of it otherwise. Good for Alan Gibson for pointing it out. Shame you had the situation in the first place, it could be a specific member of staff changed and let you down who knows?
They should've offered a courtesy car without a doubt, I guess sometimes you just have to demand things like that.
And they should've picked you up - how in fact did you get the car did they drive it round?
Anyway, on the bright side, it was all done under warranty so no moneys to be paid out or claimed, and you now have a new engine!
