Delay in acceleration when starting car

Hey all

When I start my car, and stab the accelerator pedal, it has a slight delay, and there is a thump sounds like a backfire, however when I am driving there are no issues accelerates okay etc. I have replaced the maf and reset the ecu however it is still there any suggestions? and will this affect my car going through an mot ie the emisions?

Re: Delay in acceleration when starting car

Hi there,
I had a similar problem with my TS. When cold (as it gets very cold here) it would backfire like mad and when warm and overtaking I would have to push in the clutch and build the revs up beforehand. I also noticed it was a bit strangulated at about 6 thousand revs. No mechanic could explain it either.
I lived with this for 5 years until eventually my battery crapped out. Installed new battery, problem was instantly solved. No backfiring, no overtaking delay and no problem at 6 thousand, it was like a new car. I should probably start a thread about this as it had everyone stumped.
