Cluth needs frequent bleeding
I have a 53 plate 1.9 JTD 147
Since I've had the car the clutch has been very heavy. However it has worked fine and lasted around 2 years. It gave up the ghost last weekend. Pedal went soft and i could not select any gears.
Car got towed to the garage and the slave cylinder was replaced.
When i picked the car up. Everything was fine, gear selection was smooth and clutch was v light compared to before.
When i used the car the next day i had problems. It Was impossible to select 1st or reverse gear. I limped to th garage using 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears only
The mechanic told me he had to re-bleed the clutch and when i picked it up it was working perfectly. Light and easy gear selection.
This time it lasted for around 3hrs. Using it tonight, again it feels like its on its way out again. 1st is getting stiffer and stiffer. I suspect when i try and use it again tomorrow it will be the same as it was yesterday.
Any ideas what this could be? Could the clutch be drawing in air from somewhere?
Also, is there a dummies guide to bleeding the clutch on here. I've searched the forums but found nothing that is basic enough for me so far.
Any help much appreciated.
