Hi, I am waiting for a new 147 2.0 Manual. Reason?? I originaly purchased a 147 Selespeed back in October and 3 weeks after taking delivery from auto-italia, the car developed an intemittant Selespeed System Failure fault. The car would literally stop to a hault in the middle of the road and the only way to clear the error would be to turn off the ignition and restart the car. Anyway, the car went back to the dealer and they could not find any errors after nearly two weeks of testing. I accepted the car back hesitantly and the very next day the same fault re-occured (seemed to be when the engine was cold), and again on several occasions after that. I took the car back and a technician from Alfa Romeo UK looked at the problem and found that it was a problem with the ECU which was replaced. I rejected the car at this point, after a few faxes to their customer services manager insisting that i would not accept the car back again, they agreed to replace the car with a manual version. The Selepeed is great when it works. Not so great when the failure occurs and the car stops (worrying that you cannot even select neutral before it happens). I guess it's really hit and miss on how well your car performs, it may never give you trouble. I just thought if I had this much trouble trying to get the problem resolved under warranty, what would happen in a few years time? How much would it cost to repair? One of the mechanics from the dealership gave me a lift home, and he stated that they had had nothing but problems with the Selespeed system and that the cars were always on the ramps for Selespeed related issues. Don't get me wrong, I adore the 147 which is why I accepted the manual version, no other car in its class touches it for looks etc in my view. I hope yours is trouble free. Can't say much for the service received by auto-italia though. Oh, I had a few minor issues as well inc mis-aligned headlight, poor windscreen washer jets and a squeeky dashboard. I hope the new 147's OK! Good luck.
