They never did combination testing, oil and dirt together, that would have failed the MAF, dirt sticking to the oil and making the element heavier so the drag on it increases making the ECU think there was more air so throwing in more fuel and so flooding the engine, now there is the theory that they never tested, it is a biased test, but they proved the durability of the top of the line MAF's, maybe they should use some fleabay items next time.
I still think the combination of oil and dirt damages them. I've seen it too often.
