HELP! Multiple System Failures. (147)
Hi, I bought an 2002 147 Selespeed (out of warranty) last week and I'm sad to say I've had quite a few problems with it.
It drove like a dream on the first day I had it but on the second I noticed a yellow warning light near the rev counter (Think its the motor control system warning), but there were no noticable problems.
Two days later the same light was present only this time the "Motor Control System Failure" warning flashed. After a while, it went away and the car continued to drive as normal.
The next day the "MCSF" failure message was back, then, as I was driving the "Selespeed System Failure" waring came up and I could no longer select any gears above 2nd (also, in 1st the car was very jerky as if out of gear).
After turning the car off for a few minutes I was able to get going again, but the same failure occurred another 3 times (the last time it happened, the VDS and ABS system failure messages also came up)
Same story today - drove fine for 45min and then the Selespeed failure kicked in again.
I took it to an Alfa garage today to get a diagnostic. The following errors were found:
1. No accelerator pedal information (intermitent)
The codes for this were - P0220 - accelerator potentimeter, P1221 accelerator potent. track 1, P1226 accelerator pedal movement)
2. Brake switch (intermittent)
3. Lever switch 2 (intermittent)
4. Lever switch 3 (intermittent)
The guy at the Alfa garage has given me an estimated quote of £400 to try to fix the problem (labour only).
This is my first car and I spent most of my money just buying it!! Really don't want to fork out so much on repairs so soon!!
Has anybody resolved any similar problems??
Any help would be appreciated.
