147 brakes

Anybody else feel that they are the weak link? I'm not saying they are bad,in fact they are MUCH better than on a standard 1.8T,but..............

Hi Dave,
My 147's brakes were brilliant to start with but have deteriorated since driving on wet, salty roads over Christmas. The pedal feels hard and deceleration is poor, particularly in the first stop after a long motorway drive. I'm going to try bedding them in again with a load of hard stops from high speed.

My brakes are well.. crap really. way too much travel, spongy with no bite.
Ive had the master cylinder replaced on warranty but the problem persists. the brakes on my old vw beetle were better.Any comments anyone? looks like dealer visit time again.

Mine have always been pretty good. But then, I do always "use" them so they don't get a chance to glaze over, etc.

I would say that the ABS comes in a bit too early, but that's understandable for a family production car. Are the ABS, EBD or VDC tolerances adjustable at all for the more "enthusiastic" driver?
