ROFLMAO at your seriousness!
>>>well, I try
As this thread is about alfa build quality then comments I’ve made are FULLY justified especially when it veered off towards a comparison with bmw – I’ve got one of each so I think my opinion is valid.
>>>never said your points they weren't valid. I asked why you didn't buy a Z3 instead. I've also got one of each (ie, a german)
Also as you’ve focussed on the jerking off bit – well let me go back over what I was trying to say for your benefit
>>>thank you. coz i is a bit thick.
as this is a marque specific forum it is very easy to get rose tinted glasses and go over enthusiastic. Like you I love cars, especially ours and I’m happy to share REAL experience with them – if the BMW ****s me over rest assured I’ll not keep quite about it.
>>>We are brutally honest about our frustrations with Alfa dealers. We love our cars BUT we are totally honest about the issues and problems we have had. If you had some time, look at some of my posts. We love our cars but we DON'T wear rose-tinted specs over build quality. Nor do we keep quiet about it. I also have a german car as comparison, and that ain't perfect either.
IMHO, of course, the fact is that the 3.5 year old bmw and alfa are within a month and 1500 miles exactly the same age and mileage, FSH etc. The alfa was bought at 15 moths old with 12k on clock and has had TLC thoughout its life. The bmw who knows, its an approved used, driven for three years by a local company director so who knows, but likely to have been cared for as well.
>>>OK, fine. I wasn't aware of that.
But what is apparent is that one car is wearing its age a damn sight better than the other – glib comments about being apparent on a test drive do you no good - we are talking about past 2 years experience with it.
>>>the comment wasn't glib or meant to be. So you're finding the BMW is wearing better -ok, fair point. I can't argue with that, it's a fact.
Now to be brutally honest I don’t care what you think
>>> don't fret, i won't lose any sleep over that
we’re very happy with the alfa it does what it says on the tin, is a terrific drive, has charisma and gets admiring comments and looks.
>>>good. that's why you buy and love an Alfa...
But facts are facts - it has had the alarm system replaced, with third party one (cause dealer and alfa UK couldn't do dip-squiddly with there own system!!!!), the hood squeaks until I remedied that, the heater packed in and has now done so again, seals around doors came free, there was small leak into boot. Oh and it took 12 weeks to get a part for the air-con and yes I knew about the dealers but that doesn’t make it acceptable, on the whole they are **** and whether it is them or Alfa UK to blame they do the marque a disservice in comparison to other prestige ones
>>>...and that's the price you pay for it. We only tolerate the latter because we love the former.
anything else you need to set me straight on?
Still got more race victories than BMW, anyway!
