hi just recently bought my alfa 156 2.0 ts 2001 i want to change the cambelt what does this involve i.e. the correct tools for the job also auxilary belt to be changed is there an adjustable tensioner i need for that but not sure what i need to buy for that job the variator whats needed for that
i've been on line looking for parts and kits on line to do the job but just ended up confusing myself really think i have a cf2 engine but not 100% about that how can i tell ??? and whats the difference
somebody help please ive already had alot of usefull information from you guys out and thanks for that
This is also a good time to do an oil change, pointless puting the old muck through your nice clean variator, but the parts you need are:
Variator, Cam belt, cam belt tensioner and idler, Balance belt and tensioner, Aux belt, oil/filter, antifreeze (see below).
Tools: Tensioner setting tool (or a bit of wire), cam locks 1.8/2.0TS, torque bits (various), Tensioner removal tool, paint pen, Jack, axle stands, sockets (various), cross point screwdrivers (#0 & #1).
It is also advisable to do your waterpump at this time too, though they rarely fail they are buried behind all the stuff your removing.
A cambelt job on the twinny is not for the faint of heart, this is definately test your abilities as TS belts are probably the hardest to set up of any engine.
