New to Alfa! Help!
Hi all and may I say it is great to have this forum. I've been looking at it as a guest the last couple of weeks and it has been a brilliant source of information. To be brief.
A month ago I bought my first Alfa Romeo 156 JTD, year: 2005 with 19,000 miles on the clock. Only last week I got that orange light with the 'Motor Control System Failure'. Clearly dismayed I took it back to the garage and they diagnosed a turbo sensor (I can't recall the precise name for it) which they changed and it seems fine.
I'm not really great on cars to be honest; I've just wanted an Alfa for years and I'm determined to keep it. Now my wife (enemy of cars and football) wants me to give it back to the garage. Firstly, I don't think they can just 'take it back' with a 6 month repair warranty only in the deal; secondly, I don't want to give it back. My wife however -- like many others -- has stories from people in work about full engine seizures, thousands of pounds of repairs etc etc, so I need an argument for me to keep it. I have heard about drivers stranded in the middle of noewhere with their Alfa going literally nowhere.
Can anyone really tell me that if something has gone this wrong this quickly with this car, I need to get rid of it soon?
Sorry for being vague. But it is my first Alfa, and I don't want it to be the last!
