The oddest thing ive ever encountered!
Hello everybody, I bought a 156 2.0 TS recently, and it was perfectly fine for a little while but now the oddest things are happening. I wondered if any of you had maybe had a similar instance and thus maybe able to point me in the right direction. Basically the car is perfectly fine one minute and the next, everytime i hit 2750rpm i get a rasping/ rattling noise, twinned with a slight loss of power. However come 4000ish rpm it all goes away and acts like the alfa I remember. This is usually twinned with the injector malfunction light coming on.
If I accelerate hardish the light will go out once i hit that magic 4k rpm. And if i decelerate through that range the noise is 10 times louder
It happens in every gear when it does happen. I took it to a garage and the man hooked a diag computer in and retrieved a knock sensor 1 fault however the noise appears to be coming from the inlet manifold.
Nobodys heard this however because the two occasions I have taken it to a garage, sods law! It wouldn't do it. the guy tested the knock sensor and he said it was fine. He reckons the next thing would be to hit the Inlet manifold, but the job is long and expensive, just wondered if anyone had any advice or previous issues similar.
I thought maybe a battery on its way out hitting full load and not delivering enough power to various sensors or what not, we got a battery power error with the knock sensor 1, but, i snapped the fan belt and ran down the battery a small while ago which could explain the battery warning. Any thoughts????
