I have already introduced myself and looked through previous posts, but wonder if someone could shed some light on my problem?
I am recently the proud owner of a 147 JTD "53" plate. I really love driving this car but the clutch is very heavy.
If I push the clutch down from the top, it is light and floppy to a quarter way down then very stiff. When it comes back up, again it is very stiff but the remaining quarter of travel does not always correct itself and the pedal needs pushing up manually by my foot to return to the correct position. When you push the clutch down again, it is consistent and the same thing happens every time you change gear.
The gearchange is always positive with no crunches etc.
Having searched previous posts, seems it could be either :-
* "Pedal pin" - which was subject to a recall (how do I know if my model was affected?)
* Hydraulic fluid - needs bleeding
* Slave cylinder - this has been changed in the past though not within the last year.
* Master cylinder
I'm planning on taking this to a garage but wondered if anyone could help shed some light on this for me before I go?
Any replies gratefully received.
