The cheapest way is to get a secondhand head, with new variator and belts+Tensioners. A SH head is normally about £150. 1.6/1.8/2.0 heads are all the same.
You should change the big end shells as well because the shock of the pistons hitting the valves can flat spot them or crack them, and this will mean big end problems a few short miles down the road.
If you are doing the work yourself this way will cost around £600 by the time you factor in new gaskets and parts.
