Re: Front bumper removal (156)
Good Luck, I took mine off last week. It is held on with bolts that are 27mm star shaped, and like to get rounded off!!
There are 4 on top of the bumper under the plastic trim with the chrome either side of the grill.
There are 3 on the bottom of the bumper (under where the radiator is).
2 more on either corner.
2 screws in the wheel arch hold the plastic wheel arch liner to the bumper.
Then the fun ones, there are 3 inside each side of the bumper where it connects to the front wing. If you lay under the front of the car and look up (with a torch) at either end of the bumper, you can see the bolts. They are the same star pattern and are a nightmare to get to, let alone get out.
This is not recommended, but a number of the bolts on mine snapped when I tried to undo them, must have rusted in, therefore I had to pull the bumper off (the plastic seems to be reasonably flexible) and then grind off and drill out the snapped bolts and replace them, it has gone back on fine, but it took about 7 hours in total (and 5 minutes to change the intercooler!!).
I would recommend not taking it off unless you have to! Unless someone else has a trick that I was not aware of!!
