Clutch / hydraulics problem

Less than a month after buying it, my 156 2.0 JTS is sat on the drive with a non-working clutch. Hopefully only a master-cylinder problem, but would love to hear anyone's thoughts...

Clutch bite-point was very near the floor ever since the test-drives, but then a few days ago there was no bite-point at all. Pumped the peddle and it was back to normal. Next day the same, but more often. Having struggled to get it home, I stopped to back onto the drive and it stalled because I couldn't engage the clutch. A few mins of pumping the pedal and trying to get it out of gear eventually worked it free, so then I could start the engine again and get it onto the drive.

So now it is waiting for my local non-alfa specialist garage to come and collect it. What can I say to him to guide him, please?
Thanks. Jerry.
