Clicking sound from Engine

Hi there,

First post here as I found the site when searching about clicking sounds in 156 engines on google. I know
there was a thread on this as I found it yesterday but am unable to find it now so apologies for starting a new
one here.

I wonder can any of you offer advice. I bought my 2002 156 1.6 in march form a dealer and my warranty is out
on the 29th. I am bringing it in to them as I have the clicking sound from the left side of the engine and it seems
to be using a lot of oil. I have topped up but after a couple of weeks the oil light goes on when cornering and braking.

From what I have read, I am thinking that the cam belt may need changing. There are 76k on her but I do not know if the
warranty covers this... This is my first dealings with a car dealer and any advice here would be well appreciated.

Have to say though, love the new jammer!

Re: Clicking sound from Engine

Sounds just like mine! The clicking could be just injectors(normal) or maybe something else.

Thanks Qawsed - Only noticed after I posted that there should be no techy questions so I found the original

Re: Clicking sound from Engine

I don't think the warranty will cover a cambelt change as this is a consumable and part of regular servicing. If your engine is a twinspark then yes you will be needing a new cambelt unless it was done within 36k or 3 years ago.

On the oil front, you really need to keep an eye on it by physically checking the dipstick once a week or so. Often on the twinspark when the oil light comes on it is already too late. Sure you will be OK as it's not on all the time but get out there and check the car on a level surface ASAP!
